VA Hospital Visits
The Los Angeles Air Force Spouses' Club (LA AFSC) has volunteered at the VA Medical Center in Long Beach for many years. On the first Wednesday of each month our group, along with a military unit from SMC, visits the Spinal Cord Injury Unit at the hospital. We bring snacks and play BINGO. This visit, while simple in execution, is a vital part of not only our responsibility to our community, but to the morale of our Veterans. Our visits are a very welcome respite for the patients, the families, and the staff. They absolutely love the baked goods and the chance to engage in some fun gab sessions, as well as the chance to win some prizes!

Book Club
If you have a love of books, then you should join our book club. We meet each month in a different member's home. It is a lot of fun and a great opportunity to catch up on some reading! Bunco
Bunco is a fun and easy dice game that anyone can learn how to play. We are hoping to have at least two Bunco groups this year. Our Wednesday Bunco Group remains strong and meets on the third Wednesday of the month at the Fort MacArthur Community Center. Lunch Bunch
The Lunch Bunch meets monthly at restaurants selected by the group members. Members take turns picking a restaurant and serving as the contact point for that month. Out & About
A sub-club for spouses to enjoy local day trips and occasionally longer trips to destintions a little farther out. Possible trips include: The Getty Museum, Rosebowl Parade Float viewing, Universal Studios Tour, Weekend away to Central California (Hearst Castle and Solvang). Other suggestions are welcome!

Playgroups
Babies and Mommas Playgroup will meet in members' homes once a month, with the time decided by that month's host. Mainly for those starting out around 0-18 months in September and the group will grow up a bit as time goes along. Prego Mommas welcome too! Contact Lisa P. for more info; play.group @ laafsc.com
Park Playgroup We will meet the 2nd Friday of every month from 11 am - 1 pm (subject to change based on attendees' availability). Everyone who wants to play and meet new friends is welcome so bring your baby, toddler, gentle older kids, or even your toy poodle! Our first gathering will be at the Pacific Heights playground (by the front gate) on Friday September 9th at 11 a.m. Bring a blanket and lunch or snack.
